Behind TI's Fifth Price Hike: What Is Your Supplier Doing?

1. Price Hikes Are Not Accidental—They Reflect a Structural Shift

On September 1, Texas Instruments issued its fifth price adjustment notice in the past 13 months, with increases for in-demand models reaching as high as 85%. Nearly 20 analog and power semiconductor companies worldwide have raised prices one after another. 8-inch wafer capacity utilization has exceeded 90%, and lead times for some analog devices have stretched to 52 weeks. This is not a short-term price fluctuation but a structural shift in supply and demand.

2. The Core Driver: AI Is Squeezing Out 8-Inch Capacity

A single GPU in an AI server now consumes over 1000W—several times to ten times that of a traditional server—requiring massive support from power management chips. However, analog and power chips rely heavily on 8-inch mature-process wafers, while TSMC and Samsung are continuing to cut 8-inch production lines and shift to advanced processes. On one side, AI computing power is siphoning off capacity; on the other, 8-inch capacity continues to shrink. The chip demand of traditional manufacturing is being pushed to the back of the queue.

The power management chips, LED drivers, and display driver ICs in the LCD module of the project you are working on all depend on this 8-inch production line. The rising tide of upstream price increases is flowing down the supply chain, layer by layer.

3. While Others Wait, CNK Chooses to Warn Customers in Advance

Most people's first reaction is to wait—wait for prices to fall, wait for capacity to recover. But CNK chooses to tell customers in advance: the water is coming.

As soon as TI's price hike notice was issued, CNK's supply chain team began reviewing the BOM lists of customers' in-production and upcoming projects one by one, marking every chip that could be affected and calculating the impact of the price increase on final costs. Then they contacted customers proactively: "This component is about to go up in price. If this batch of orders can be placed within two weeks, we can still lock in the original price with existing inventory."

Behind this is the judgment and action of advance stocking. As soon as the price increase signals appeared, CNK's supply chain team built additional safety stock for key part numbers—not to hoard for itself, but to leave customers a time window, a buffer period in which they would not have to immediately absorb the impact of the price increase.

4. Fifteen Years of Accumulation Is the Foundation for Service

Customers such as Yuwell, Anker, and Kstar have consistently chosen CNK over many years of cooperation—not because we are smarter, but because we have walked this road long enough. CNK Electronics has been deeply engaged in displays and HMI human-machine interaction for fifteen years and is a national "Little Giant" enterprise specializing in niche sectors. It has an engineering team of more than 70 people and over 100 patents, covering monochrome LCD, TFT display modules, OLED modules, and other full-category product lines, serving industries such as power, medical, automotive electronics, and smart wearables. These are not labels to show off. They mean that when industry storms come, we have the flexibility of a multi-supplier system to absorb the impact, enough technical depth to find alternatives, and long enough customer relationships to understand what each chip means to the final product.

5. The Bigger the Storm, the More You Need Someone Standing with You

No one knows when the chip price increase will stop. But one thing is certain: the bigger the storm, the more you need someone standing with you. Advance reminders, advance communication, finding solutions together—these things may seem small, but each one answers the same question: when cost pressure comes, what will the supplier do? CNK's answer is simple: not push the pressure downstream, but shoulder it together with customers. Lock in prices where possible, substitute where possible, optimize where possible. Leave the choice to customers and the professional judgment to the team. This has been CNK's approach for fifteen years, and it is a direction that will not change in the future. In a storm, walking together is steadier than carrying it alone.
